City of Salisbury appoints Wade Furches as Chief Financial Officer
SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) – Wade Furches’ interim CFO title is officially permanent. Today Salisbury City Manager W. Lane Bailey appointed Furches city finance manager after a month on the job.
Furches is a 23 year veteran of the town of Salisbury, joining the organization in 1998 as an accountant. He was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2006 where he managed the day-to-day financial operations, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, payroll and the City’s investment portfolio.
“Wade has considerable institutional knowledge of Salisbury’s finances, both day-to-day and long-term, which makes him more than qualified to lead our finance team,” said Bailey. “In the midst of our administrative transitions, I have no doubts that Wade will continue to lead Salisbury’s positive financial path.”
“The effective management of taxpayer dollars is the most important job of any public servant,” Furches said. “I am honored and touched to have this opportunity to lead the Salisbury finance team. I look forward to continuing our work of providing support to City services and excellent service to our external clients.
Prior to his tenure at Salisbury, Furches was an accountant at Sherrill and Smith CPA, responsible for auditing and preparing financial statements, corporate and personal income tax returns and performing all core accounting functions for clients of the firm. He was also the lead auditor for the audits of six municipalities.
Furches holds a BA from Catawba College, is a Chartered Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Local Financial Officer.
