Port receives certificate of excellence for financial reporting – Port Arthur News
The Port of Port Arthur demonstrates a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial history and motivate potential users and user groups to read its reports.
An impartial panel carried out the assessment recently, leading the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada to award the Port the Certificate of Excellence for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
The analysis is based on the port’s full 2020 annual financial report.
Port Arthur Harbor Commissioners Chairman John Comeaux said the award demonstrates the port’s long-standing commitment to accurate and complete public disclosure of its financial performance.
The certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting, postal officials said, adding that its achievement represents a significant achievement.
“Recognition is important, reflecting the dedication and professionalism of our port team,” said Port Manager / CEO Larry Kelley. “My sincere compliments to the members of our accounting and finance team. This award is only one measure of our commitment to our community for continued transparency, professional management and a standard of excellence.
